Seminar Theme: Managing for Effectiveness & Developing Healthy Learning Communities

There are fundamentals to effective management whether for the classroom or a school. Effective management lowers stress while increasing performance. It is an obtainable goal! Participants will learn better communication skills, group processes, scheduling and prioritizing skills, goal-setting and how to handle daily stress while preventing long-term decay due to unaddressed issues. Shaping the future effectively demands intelligent, informed, and efficient managing of issues and people whether students, parents, teachers, administrators, community.


Anthony Dallmann-Jones

Facilitator: Anthony Dallmann-Jones, PhD, is the author of seven published books about increasing human effectiveness in one capacity or another. Pieces from each will be included in the seminar.

NOTE: One graduate credit is available for this seminar via NCATE accredited Marian University. Forms will be available at the pre-conference. Some online research and a reflective paper are required to complete the course.

Two credits can be obtained by attending the seminar and the FULL conference. Seminar notes and a reflective paper are required. See front desk at the conference for Marian University registration forms. Dr. Dallmann-Jones is the professor of record for both credits.

  • 8:00am-8:30am — Continental Breakfast and check-in/new registrations

  • 8:30am-12:00pm — Pre-Conference Seminar

  • 12:00pm-1:00pm — Sandwich bar provided free of charge

  • 1:00pm-4:30pm — Pre-Conference Seminar (cont'd)

  • 4:30pm — Gulf/golf time!

  • 6:00pm-8:00pm — The NAREN registration desk open in the Conference Center, if you wish to check in and get your nametags, etc. No need coming before 6:00pm — please let the staff get set up before approaching the desk. You can also wait to check in on Tuesday morning at between 8:00am-8:45am. The reception, last year held on Monday night, will this year be on Tuesday night at 7:00pm

Register now for the 2012 Pre-Conference Seminar!

One or two graduate credits are available through Marian University (NCATE Accedited). In order to get two credits, you must attend both the pre-conference and the conference, and attend all sessions. You may get one credit for the pre-conference or for the conference, individually. Each credit is $250. You may register on-site. For questions about the graduate credits, email the instructor, Dr. Dallmann-Jones. Course Title is: Quality Education for At-Risk Learners. 18 hours of CEUs are also available at no charge. Contact Cheryl for a form. Again, full attendance is required to get 18 hours of continuing education credits.

  • PLUS! 7:00pm - 8:00pm — Wednesday night at at the Edgewater Beach Resort Conference Center: "Addiction in the 21st Century", a panel discussion with both national and local representation experts and students from Panama City. Admission is free to conference goers and a donation will be asked from non-attendees.

  • PLUS! 8:10pm - 9:00pm — In honor of Black History Month, Marcus Gentry, a social activist and entertainer from Chicago, will present A King's Journey a presentation telling Dr. King's story in the first person. Mr. Gentry's vocal impression of Dr. King captures his personal side while recreating the emotions experienced during some of his most memorable moments and speeches for his audiences' enjoyment. Admission is free to conference goers and a donation will be asked from non-attendees.
