  NAREN Central Office has released a startling and revealing report after administering a survey to a sampling of American teachers and administrators in early July of this year. Initiated by a bonfire of a story out of Atlanta where 178 educators in an organized "ring" were caught changing high-stakes testing scores. Similar stories out of Houston, Baltimore, and other cities began to surface. Newer allegations came forth regarding investigations of cheating by teachers in schools connected to the Race to the Top, high-stakes testing, merit-pay, and paying teachers based on test scores — even a SINGLE test score! • 2010 NAREN Singapore Conference

  Dr. Anthony Dallmann-Jones, NAREN Director, was invited to speak on November 10-11, 2010 at the International Council on At-Risk Education (ICARE) Conference. This first ever global conference on at-risk education was held at the Fortura Riverside Hotel in Singapore and had as its aim: "Sharing mutual concerns in the educating of at-risk youth". • NAREN Proudly Announces the Recipients of its Fall 2010 Grants!

  Each Fall, NAREN awards a $250 grant to a program serving at-risk students. Determining this year's grant recipient was extremely difficult given the number of qualified grant applicants. We have decided to increase the total award amount to $300 and divide it between two much deserving programs. Congratulations to 500 Reach and Washington Alternative! Read more...
