The National At-Risk Education NetworkBooks on At-Risk EducationThe NAREN Self-Study KitThe Self-Study Kit can be used by schools to assess their at-risk program against quality education standards developed by NAREN. But the main purpose of the Self-Study Kit is to assist schools or school systems in taking an in-depth look at themselves and how they are/aren't meeting the needs of at-risk youth, and to prepare for a possible onsite visit by a NAREN reviewer(s). Included in a NAREN Self-Study Kit is the manual with all nine NAREN standards, indicators of compliance, benchmark evidence suggestions, and spaces to notate location of authentic evidence. Also included are full instructions on requesting and conducting a review visit(s), application forms, suggested timeline tables, sample certificates, and contact information. Each distinctive at-risk program in a school system should fill out a separate Self-Study Manual. For additional descriptive information on certification, please see the NAREN Certification page.
